We left Ginnie Springs this morning. It was a bittersweet goodbye as it was super fun, memorable and super fast, but we were excited to head to our next destination - Destin Beach…
Now lemme rewind to the months before this trip and the research we did. I am a huge fan of weather almanac. I weather history everything. When we planned our wedding i used it, when we go on vacations i use it, its the best tool ever. So when we were planning this RV trip i used it. For the past 6 to 7 years, this week, the weather in the places we are going/have been has been FREEZING. Like for instance, ginnie springs, was high 60 low 30 this time of year. Now, thats fine that it wasn’t, but when you plan for months, shop for months and the WEEK before you go El Nino messes it all up - its not easy to adapt! Everything we had planned for and bought has been based on freezing weather.
So back to the trip. The weather in Ginnie Springs was gorgeous. Nice enough during the day to go into the springs, and just enough chilly at night to make S’mores, so no complaints there.
We arrived to Destin today JUST in time to get settled before the thunderstorm came. And when I say thunderstorm, i mean it. The RV was shaking and it was black outside. I have a few minutes of, is this freaking serious? First, we plan for 40 degree weather, now its pouring? What the heck are we going go to do here for the next 4 days if the weather stays like this.
What do you do when its raining and your stuck in an RV? You make walking tacos - play Yahtzee and drink beer :)
Finally the weather stopped. We walked out of our RV, right onto the sand and took a nice little family walk on the beach. Just as we were about to write our name in the sand and take a picture -I bend down to snap the picture and the rain POURS down on us.
Instead of being upset - I felt this overwhelming sensation of satisfaction and happiness and started to cry happy tears. Im with my family, were on vacation, at the most beautiful relaxing place, how can i possibly be upset about that? We are making memories and thats exactly what this rain just did for us. I mean, you can’t ALWAYS have perfection right….
Until tomorrow……
